How to Financially Recover During the COVID-19 Economy

In recent months we have seen how businesses that have been established for 20, 50, 100 years closing their doors, high unemployment rates and worse of all more than 200,000 Americans have died to this horrible disease. The world economy has suffered tremendously from this pandemic. The stock market has revealed the uncertainty in the market with high volatility having investors worry what would happen to their life saving. All of this makes us wonder when are we going back to normal? This pandemic has disrupted many families financial future but one thing i should say is that we all have to stay optimistic as to what the future will hold. With this current situation we are facing you should be mindful of what and how you spend your hard earn money and to not let the pandemic disrupt you from your long-term financial goals.

1. Understand the principles of money and what it means to you.

Having a general knowledge about money can help you see and understand the real value of money. Money is not only used to buy materialistic things. Viewing money as a way to buy shiny things isn’t the full picture, in other words it's a tool to help you enjoy the most precious things in life which is time, health and family. Make your personal finance part of your well-being. This will motivate you to focus on bigger and more long-term goals, like opening an investment account and savings account. So make a plan for your money and keep it protected from those irrational decisions we sometimes make.

2. Don’t be afraid to talk about money with other people.

Discussing the topic about money with other people can help you better understand money and learn things you might not have known. Sharing information with other peers is a way to connect and learn from each other. You can learn new strategies that can be applied to your own financial goals. I remember when I started my journey of wanting to understand the real value of money and how can I get better at managing my finances and increase my net worth. The things that helped me change my view on money was these two books I read, Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki, The richest man in Babylon by George Samuel Clason and by also engaged in conversations with friends and colleagues from work. Be sure to make this conversation fun and be open to new ideas. Don’t let the current situation we are facing destroy your optimism to get financially fit.
