Learn How to Manage Your Time and Money
Goals setting
One of the steps of having great financial stability is by learning how to manage your time and money. Time and money management is not only learning how to save or just have a to-do list, but instead learning all the aspect surrounding time and money. From saving, investing, diversification, financing, interest and taxes. To goal setting, defining task, and prioritizing what is important for us. All of these are important tools to know to create a better future. There is a saying which goes, “Save like your future depends on it (because it does) but treat each day like it’s your last." When choosing a New Year's resolution, time and money management should be on your list. Make this your priority. the year 2020 has been a rough year for everyone around the world. The year 2020 has been challenging on everyone financially, mentally and physically.
Time management is something we all do all the time. Without the ability to manage time we would not achieve any big and small goals we set for ourselves. But time and money management are areas where almost everyone feels that they can still improve. One of the most elementary factors in managing your time and money affectively is by setting goals. Think of your goals like a destination where you must get there, but you do not know how to get there. So, you use your GPS to get to your destination and while driving you always keep an eye on the GPS. The same concept works when setting goals. When writing down your goals ask yourself these questions:
What are my goals in my career?
What are my goals in my studies?
What are my goals for the next two to five years?
In my hobbies?
In my health?
In my finances?
After you have defined your goals you can now break them down into tasks that must be completed. Categorize your goals by prioritizing which comes first. Time management experts talk about two different type of tasks called maintenance and progress tasks. Maintenance tasks do not make any difference in the position you are in. For example, going out for a drink. On the other hand progress tasks will help you to get into a situation where you feel you are in a better position than before. Completing one of your goals is a great example. Many times, we find ourselves completing many tasks during the day, but we still feel like we did not complete enough tasks. Have you ever felt this way? One of the reasons this might happen is mainly because progress tasks get pushed aside by maintenance tasks. Giving you the feeling that you could have accomplished more if you did not get distracted or sidetrack. Make sure you prioritize your task first by thinking about what needs to be completed then write the time next to each task of how long it will take you to completed. Keeping track of your time and progress you make every day will give you a boost of confident to tackle other tasks.
Your goals should be the most important thought on your mind and sometimes distractions can rail you off from your goals. One thing we must learn to practice is learning how to say “NO”. This can be difficult to do because you care about other people’s feelings and you do not want to hurt them. But in fact, if you explain to them that you are working on something right now people will understand. Its not like you don't want to hang out or talk to them its just that you are prioritizing your time working on some progress tasks that you need to complete.
These are some of the guidelines you want to remember when creating a task list. First, list your tasks on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis then organize each task on based on priority. Then schedule each task, make time for it because if not your tasks will not get completed. For some people having the tasks listed up on the wall next to your calendar can help them get motivated. It can be motivating when watching your tasks being completed little by little. Also, every time you complete a task score it off, this way you get motivated by seeing things are getting done. This way you focus on the things that are getting done rather on the things you need to get done. Take the necessary time to complete your tasks, but also make sure you do not stay stuck on the same tasks. Sometimes we want immediate changes without having to go through the struggles. But the reality is that we all must go to those challenges that life throw at us. The year 2020 has shown us how important it is for you to be relentless with your goals and start getting what you deserve.
